Frequently Asked Questions
- I'm not that great a golfer
am I eligible to join?
Our mission at Pin High is to offer a positive golf environment that promotes convenience and accessibility; increased enjoyment of golf; golf opportunities for men and women; an enhanced understanding of the game and a fun friendly atmosphere. Check the Registration page to see where you fit in. - Can we ask to golf with a particular couple for a specific game?
Yes. We will do our best to accommodate your request. However, we will not book foursomes for the entire season as we are promoting a fun social league with networking opportunities. - How are foursomes put together?
Our foursomes are programmed randomly based on handicap levels, partner requests and maximizing a balance of men and women playing together. To establish speed of play, lower handicap players are eligible to book in the first two tee times (priority booking). (In the case of partnered play, the higher handicap player establishes eligibility for priority booking.) Depending upon cancellations and substitutions this may not always be possible, but one of our priorities is to provide ‘mixed play’. - How do I book my tee times?
Pin High does the bookings. By May 7, members can access their schedule on-line with dates, locations and where available, tee times. (Some courses do not release tee times until one week in advance.) All start times begin between 5 and 6:30pm. - If I can't make it can I send a substitute?
Absolutely. The individual need not be a member but must be 18 years of age or older and at least a Pin High 3 (Basic Proficiency. Some previous instruction. Familiarity with golf etiquette, club selection and swing fundamentals. Strikes ball at least 2 out of 3 tries). Please ensure that you contact us and let us know the name of your guest. - Can I Bring a Guest?
Requests for guests to play with a member will be honoured on a space available basis. Payment of $35 must be given to the Pin Head that evening or this game will count as one of your 15 games. - What if it is raining or snowing - after all this is Calgary! What is the cancellation policy?
Most Calgary golf courses remain open regardless of inclement weather, however if a course makes the decision to suspend play, we will provide a voucher. If the course remains open, but you choose not to play, you will forfeit your game. - What is the play format?
We are offering regular stroke play, with some competitive aspects. Details of the competition will be provided at the season kick off. - What other activities do you have planned?
We will be hosting an orientation session (Pin High's Grip & Grin), an opportunity to meet fellow members and find out how the league operates. We will also be planning some weekend day outings. Of course, after every game members are encouraged to partake in 19th hole activities. - Do you offer lessons?
No. However, Pin High members have access to discounted lesson packages. Contact us for details. - Do you accept credit cards?
VISA is accepted. - What is the refund policy?
Pin High will refund your membership fee (less $100) if notice is received in writing by April 30. No refunds will be issued after that date, however, your membership is transferable. - I can't start play until June, is it too late to join?
No. We'll pro-rate your membership or you can schedule your 15 games in the remaining weeks where space allows, i.e. 2 games per week over 7 weeks.

I met a whole new group of interesting and entertaining people and got to play on a bunch of new courses that I would never have thought to book on my own.
